Explore, interact, and discover the anametamorphics of art in zero gravity space.
The Space Tunnel is a modular, walk-through installation (approx. 4 m × 1 m × 1 m) designed to present born-digital art as an embodied, “travel through space” experience. A lightweight space-frame holds clear acrylic panels that are laminated with dichroic film on the exterior with cut-out asterism patterns throughout (forming a Space Art constellation) and doubled with polycarbonate plates on the interior. As ambient light passes through, the cut-outs shift in color with the viewer’s line of sight, while mirror-lined flooring bounces light to create a gentle, immersive glow. The color palette inside alludes to stellar aging, and the changing reflections outside place onlookers in the position of distant observers—echoing historical moments of space exploration.
The companion app invites visitors to explore animated “Asterisms” that abstract Space Art case studies into a constellation. The animations feature anametamorphic effects — rotating in space to reveal new perspectives of each object, which can be explored as an integral part of the sculpture’s artistic design. After opening the app, users can select from twelve animations to view, pause, and replay at will—gaining insight into Space Art forms and their lifecycles in a zero-gravity, screen-based experience. The app extends the tunnel’s optics into an interactive gallery, encouraging open-ended discovery: pick any asterism, watch it unfold, then jump to another to build your own journey through the constellation.
